SIR Keir Starmer today hit back at claims US President Joe Biden is "senile" as he tries to run for a second term in office.
The new Prime Minister defended his American counterpart after holding an hour-long bilateral meeting in the White House, as he visited Washington DC for a Nato summit.
Biden is facing growing calls to stand down as the Democrat candidate ahead of the US election in November.
When asked by the BBC whether Biden was senile after an increasing number of people are implying that he is, the PM slapped it down.
He said: "No, we had a really good bilateral yesterday, we were billed for 45 minutes, we went on for the best part of an hour, we went through a huge number of issues at pace.
"He was actually on really good form."

When pressed if Biden was mentally agile, Sir Keir said: "Absolutely, he was across all the detail.
"We were going at pace through a number of issues, which was really important to me, because obviously it was my first opportunity to have a bilateral like that.
"And he showed incredible leadership. "
Sir Keir added: "If there's one thing that came out of the council session yesterday, it was a clear understanding by everybody here that we faced more threats now that we've faced for many years.
