BRITAIN'S CHEAPEST HOME?

Two-bed flat with a ‘garden’ and on-street parking becomes one of UK’s cheapest properties after going on sale for just £17,000

Bargain flat is located near Scotland's biggest shopping centre, has great transport links & is the cheapest on sale in Glasgow

A TWO-bedroom flat on the market for just £17,000 is believed to be one of the cheapest properties in Britain.

The spacious Glasgow home, which boasts a reception hallway, lounge, kitchen, two double bedrooms and a three piece bathroom, has been described as the ideal property for those looking for a bargain.

It also has on-street parking, as well as communal front and back gardens.

The flat, which is situated in the city’s Priesthill area, is located near Scotland’s biggest shopping centre, Silverburn, which is also near Pollok Country Park and the Burrell Collection.

The cheap two-bedroom flat would also suit football fans, as it is located within easy travelling distance of Rangers’ Ibrox Park and Scotland national stadium, Hampden.

Estate agents Slater Hogg & Howison say the property needs work, but would be ideal for buyers on the hunt for a bargain.

The official description reads: "Ground floor flat within centrally sited location close to amenities and transport links.

"The property is in need of upgrading but offers great value and will surely appeal to a broad sector of the market."

The flat is currently among the cheapest on the market in Glasgow and the surrounding area after going on sale on Monday.

A source said: "This is an unbelievably cheap price for a flat and will surely be snapped up quickly by someone with an eye for a bargain.

"There has already been a lot of interest since it came onto the market which shows it is attracting attention so it'll only be a matter of time before it goes.

"Some work will have to be done on the inside but the potential is there to turn this into a really good family home.

"It sits close to Silverburn and the motorway so access links are good and it is pretty close to the centre of Glasgow on public transport.

"There is plenty of garden space as well at the front and back of the flat which will be sought after by anybody thinking of moving into it."

According to the UK House Price Index, the average house price in the UK is £219,544.

The average property price in Scotland is £141,553 while average homes in England cost £236,424 and homes in Wales cost an average of £148,177.

While the Glasgow flat is cheap at just £17,000, it’s far from the cheapest in the UK.

Earlier this month, a mid-terrace home with countryside views and a beach within a short drive was put up for sale with a guide price of just £10,000.

And a woman in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, bought a terraced property for just £1 back in 2014.

Rachel Roberts, 34, spoke of her joy at snapping up the home as part of her local council’s regeneration scheme three years ago, as the property is now worth £50,000.

The house looks much more inviting now with a blue door and is worth £50,000
