What is the Wrexham super prison, is HMP Berwyn open, how many inmates does it hold and how much did it cost to build?
Ministry of Justice say mammoth prison will be home to more than 2,000 inmates
EUROPE’S largest prison has opened in Wales in the hope of relieving Britain’s overcrowded jails and being a "truly rehabilitative" facility.
The enormous nick aims to rehabilitate lags, who will have “rooms” rather than cells, so they do not re-offend.
What is the Wrexham super prison and is it open?
HM Prison Berwyn is a category C jail in Wrexham which is to be the biggest jail ever seen in Europe.
It will be home to criminals convicted of burglary, armed robbery and other offences.
The prison will consist of three sections with about 700 beds in each area – broken down by house colours – with each section holding 88 beds at two beds to a room.
HMP Berwyn opened on February 27 2017, with anti-prison protesters gathering outside the facility.
Prison bosses say it will be filled gradually to prevent it getting too "bubbly".
What's different to normal prisons?
Lags at HMP Berwyn will be held in rooms rather than cells.
Incredible pictures have revealed the comparative luxury of the prison, with a swanky library and a poster of Nelson Mandela.
Wardens will have to knock before entering and are banned from calling cons “prisoners” or “offenders”, instead referring to them as "men".
Inmates will be given telephones so they can say goodnight to their kids, and a computer - although it won't connect to the internet.
Each two-man room has a toilet and a shower, and lags have access to a plush gym and library.
The idea is to give prisoners "the hope that they can have a better life in the future", to prevent them harming themselves or staff.
Prisoners will be encouraged to devise their own reward schemes and penalties.
How much did HM Prison Berwyn cost and how many inmates can it hold?
The £212 million pound development can house 2,106 offenders, making it the largest in the UK.
Britain’s biggest prison is currently HMP Oakwood near Wolverhampton, which can hold 1,600 inmates.
HMP Berwyn will dwarf this with an operational capacity of 2,106.
This makes it the largest prison not only in the UK, but one of the biggest in Europe.
