Flames engulf house as raging blaze breaks out in Luton

SHOCKING video footage has emerged of flames engulfing a house on a quiet residential street.

Smoke is seen billowing from the semi-detached property as bright yellow flames blaze from the windows.

The fire engulfed both floors of the property on Thornhill Road, London - but did not affect neighbouring properties.

Firefighters were called to the scene this morning and have since put out the blaze.

Nobody is thought to have been injured in the fire.

Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue said there were no reports of anyone inside the property at the time.

A spokesman said: "We were called at 6.36 am this morning to a fire on Thornhill Road, Luton. Five fire engines from Bedford, Luton and Dunstable were in attendance.

"Firefighters had to use breathing apparatus and the fire was put out at 7.38am.

"It was a two story major fire. Most of ground floor and first floor were totally damaged by smoke and heat and 25 per cent of the roof was damaged.

"A police and fire investigation is underway."
