EERIE photos show what a spooky theme park once filled with laughter looks like after being left to rot.

The abandoned park, called Test Track, closed for the final time in 2019 leaving punters gutted.

Explorer Ben Stevens, 30, captured the chilling atmosphere of the park during his visit to the location in Fort Myers, Florida.

Haunting images illustrate the variety of rides that have been slowly decaying since the park's closure.

With its deserted attractions and eerie silence piercing the air, the vast facility has an ominous atmosphere.

The explorer likened the sites that he saw to a scene from an apocalyptic movie.

Ben, from Cambridge, Massachusetts, said: “I went to the park alone last week.

“It was very hot so it was like walking around a desert.

“It was like something from an apocalypse film as the rides all sit unused and all the go carts are just sitting there.”

The theme park is filled with playgrounds and mega rollercoasters which are now trapped in time.

It's hard to imagine that children once had fun inside what remains of its walls.

Test Track became a shell of its former glory after reportedly experiencing financial difficulties and shutting down for good in 2019.

Now, the theme park lies in shattered ruins while the colourful stands for popular rides are fading away.

The ghostly images also reveal how the deserted theme park has deteriorated and been taken over by nature with time.

A runaway train sits still on its tracks while go karts are parked in rows - never to be used again.

A former water ride is now filled with murky waters and covered with vegetation.

The rusty frame of a giant drop tower haunts the landscape while the bumper cars sit in tatters.

The cavernous venue also includes a pirate ship, a swinging chair ride, and a carousel all looking derelict after years of neglect.

The explorer managed to get an intriguing aerial photo of the park by using a drone camera.

The aerial shot exposed the empty attractions fallen into disrepair and being taken over by weeds.

Ben said that although the rides have regrettably started to decay, he felt that this has only enhanced the site's charm.

He said: “I liked seeing all the rides rotting away, that was probably my favourite part about my visit.

“It’s weird how it used to be such a fun-filled place and now it’s in silence.

“It’s been abandoned since 2019 when it ran out of money.”

Ben's love of visiting deserted places has taken him all over the world.

He has travelled to several states in North America, the United Kingdom, and Japan in his hunt for abandoned sites.

Ben added: “I love exploring because it’s like your own personal museum that no one else has really been inside.”

Elsewhere, a Chinese amusement park has been given the unwanted title of "world's worst theme park" after tourists were left baffled thinking it was abandoned.

Sat in China's capital of Beijing, the Shijingshan Amusement Park has been dubbed a knock-off Disneyland by tourists for decades.
