Raging immigrant coming to UK ‘for better life’ threatened to kill cabin crew and warned ‘children will get hurt’ in drunken mid-flight rampage
Nikita Bolsakovs flew from Latvia to the UK earlier this month, but was arrested after the plane touched down
A LATVIAN man on his way to start a new life in Scotland threatened to kill cabin crew and said children would suffer, a court heard.
Nikita Bolsakovs flew from Latvia to the UK earlier this month, but was arrested after the plane touched down.
After landing at Glasgow Airport the 19-year-old was taken in by cops after a drunken tirade towards an air hostess.
He had called her a slut and threatened to kill her, Paisley Sheriff Court had heard earlier this month.
He also said "children were going to get hurt" and tried to smoke as he shouted and swore about dying.
Other passengers on the 9pm flight on February 6 were left in tears after his rants.
He eventually fell asleep - and was still so drunk when he got to the police station he could not be cautioned or charged over his behaviour.
Bolsakovs admitted his guilt when he appeared in the dock at Paisley Sheriff Court earlier this month.
He pleaded guilty to breaking Articles 245(b) and 265(6) of the Air Navigation Order 2016, and Sections 60 and 61 of the Civil Aviation Act 1982, by behaving in a threatening or abusive manner towards cabin crew members Yvonne McCluskey and Joel Simoes by shouting, swearing and threatening violence.
In a separate incident a couple's fight with airline staff forced the plane to be turned around
Today Procurator Fiscal Depute Maureen McGovern told Sheriff Tom McCartney petrified female passengers were reduced to tears as Bolsakovs bawled insults at flight staff in English and his native Latvian.
The prosecutor said: "At around 10pm a female member of the cabin crew was alerted by a passenger who was complaining about the accused, who was sitting in the row in front.
"She spoke with the accused and informed him regarding the complaint. She noted he appeared drunk and his speech was slurred.
"The accused then suddenly stood up and because aggressive towards the female cabin crew member [Yvonne McCluskey], calling her, among other things, 'a f****** slut' and 'a bitch' and threatening to kill her."
Joel Simoes, a male cabin crew member, then intervened, taking Bolsakovs to the back of the plane in a bid to calm him down.

Miss McGovern explained: "The accused became out of control at the rear of the aircraft.
"They tried to calm him down but he continued to act in an aggressive manner and continued to shout and swear.
"He put his face in to the face of the male cabin crew member in an aggressive manner, stood up and refused to sit down.
"At one point he pulled out a packet of cigarettes and said he was going to smoke them.
"Another passenger then approached and offered to interpret what the accused said - he threatened he wanted to kill cabin crew.
"The accused stated he wanted to use the toilet and was allowed to do so. He immediately began to bang the toilet door in an aggressive manner.
"The female member of the cabin crew opened the door, the accused continued to be aggressive and squared up to her and was shouting and swearing - both in his own language and in English.
"It was also noted that two female passengers sitting nearby were crying because of what was going on.
"He continued to act aggressively, was talking about dying and that children were going to get hurt."
And in another separate case a hen party began brawling
Another passenger began to speak to Bolsakovs in Latvian to try and calm him down and the female cabin crew member moved away.
Defence solicitor Paul Lynch said Bolsakovs "has a significant phobia of flying and had never flown anywhere by himself before."
The lawyer added: "He had consumed some alcohol before he got on to the flight and I'm told he was further supplied with alcohol on board.
"He has never ever been in trouble with the courts, either here or in Latvia.
"He came to Scotland to stay with a friend and to obtain employment.
"He has obtained a National Insurance number and is due to commence employment at a Russian restaurant later this week."
Bolsakovs was held in custody for two nights at Helen Street police office, in Glasgow's Govan area, before his first court appearance, and was remanded in custody to Low Moss Prison, in Bishopbriggs, ahead of sentencing.
After hearing that Bolsakovs will be receiving around £1,000-a-month in his new job and had spent "the best part of a week in custody" for an offence where a prison sentence cannot be imposed, Sheriff Tom McCartney fined him £300, reduced from £450 as he admitted his guilt.
Last year a huge fist fight at 30,000 feet forced a flight to land almost 900 miles from its destination.
And a punch-up between two men on a plane flying to London forced the pilot to make an emergency landing in Istanbul.
