A PLANE was forced to divert because of the rotten smell coming from one of its toilets.
The pong wafting from the loo of the Indian SpiceJet plane grew so bad staff were forced to make an unscheduled stop.
India's budget airline was on its way from Bengaluru to capital New Delhi - but was forced to stop 1,000 miles short of its destination in Hyderabad.
SpiceJet blamed the delay on an "extremely pungent" smell.
A spokesperson told : "SpiceJet aircraft, operating flight SG 192 from Bengaluru to Delhi, had to be diverted to Hyderabad due very foul smell from forward lavatory coming into the cockpit."
The airline did not give a cause of the smell.
There were 184 passengers on board the Boeing 737 when the plane was forced to divert yesterday.
After an hour of cleaning, the aircraft was allowed to carry on its journey.
A British Airways jumbo jet was forced to make an emergency landing last July after cannabis was smelt on board.
Dad Stuart Barnes, 40, said: “The smell was unmistakable.”
The plane returned to Gatwick after 90 minutes, costing BA £50,000 and causing travel chaos.
