Professor Stephen Hawking says technology will wipe out humanity and calls for global government to defeat killer robots

Professor Stephen Hawking has said humanity needs to form a global government to cope with the threat posed by killer robots and artificial intelligence.

In a piece of advice that will set conspiracy theorists' spider-senses tingling, he said our species would need to band together if we are to stop technology wiping us out.

Internet crackpots are obsessed with the idea of a secret world government, which is often referred to as the New World Order.

Hawking is equally obsessed with the idea that artificial intelligence will one day turns its on creators and exterminate every human living on Planet Earth.

Now he has warned that our species' technological prowess could actually lead to our downfall.

"Since civilisation began, aggression has been useful inasmuch as it has definite survival advantages," he told The Times.
"It is hard-wired into our genes by Darwinian evolution.
"Now, however, technology has advanced at such a pace that this aggression may destroy us all by nuclear or biological war. We need to control this inherited instinct by our logic and reason."

He suggests that "some form of world government" could solve the problems, as long it doesn't enslave us first.
"But that might become a tyranny," he warned.

Professor Hawking now spends much of his time warning humanity of its impending doom.

He recently said the human species could be brutally finished off by “rogue” robots which are too strong for us to defeat, as long as greedy humanity manages to avoid eating itself to extinction before then.

The legendary boffin is one of the most prominent critics of the unrestrained development of artificial intelligence, because he fears super-smart machines could end up turning on their human creators and sending us the way of the dodo.

He also said doomsday space rocks are a threat to humanity and any other intelligent civilisation which may exist in our universe.

, an "global movement" dedicated to protecting our species, Professor Hawking said: "One of the major threats to intelligent life in our universe is the high probability of an asteroid colliding with inhabited planets."
