Israel’s James Bond-style attack on Hezbollah has left them as headless chickens – but could put us on the brink of WW3

Israel's attack on Hezbollah in Lebanon could just be the first stage of their plan to destroy the terrorist organisation

ISRAEL’S cunning attack on Hezbollah using the group’s message pagers is going to be the stuff of thrillers in years to come.

Not even James Bond’s Q came up with an idea like this but the best and the brightest of Israel’s conscripted army are all moved into IT cyber warfare.

If Hezbollah cannot communicate with their command, they are like headless chickens, which was which was the point.

They cannot return to using phones because, of course, they could be tracked by the Israelis.

You can be sure Mossad has the telephone number of every member of Hezbollah.

They are going to have to rely on messengers or even carrier pigeon.

They've got a cyber capacity, which is probably second to none in the world. They've been planning this for some time.

Logic dictates that this would have been the first stage in an Israeli attack on Hezbollah in Lebanon.

It's possible over the next few hours or days that we will see this attack but I suspect we won't.

If we don't, then you could say, you know, what has been the point of this?

Israel has fired their bolt and they can't do it a second time so in a sense, it rather weakens Netanyahu.

He's not winning in Gaza. That's absolutely clear. Even in areas where the Israeli Defense Force took total control, Hamas is still popping up and firing missiles.

This attack is further evidence of President Biden's lack of control.

US weakness is on full display as Netanyahu has exploited Biden's weakness throughout this conflict.

Unless there are attacks soon by the Israelis, we have to assume they've shot their bolt and they hope now things will quieten down into a tit-for-tat situation.

People like me have been saying we are on the edge of a major regional war ever since the turn of 2024. And it has never happened.

Does this bring it a step nearer? It could well do.

A regional war would involve Iran and that would become easily a world war.

Iran is supplying weapons to Russia and in turn Russia is supplying nuclear technology to Iran.

Which means that a regional conflict that would involve Iran and Hezbollah is Iran's revolutionary army in the Middle East.

That would lead to a situation where a third world war becomes almost inevitable.

Not because anybody seeks it - I don't think that anybody does want it.

But because the way these things happen, world wars happen when countries lose control of events.

And this looks to me like a loss of control by Israel.

I really do think we are on the edge of something very serious indeed.

If you look at the sort of the elements superficially, this is what the Israelis have done is a breath-taking act of sabotage.

However, you don't win wars with sabotage – it has to be followed up with a military attack.

Will that come? We will have to wait and see.
