Boy, one, dies after packed schoolbus crashed into car in horror which left woman in 30s dead

A ONE-YEAR-OLD baby boy and a woman have died from their injuries after a crash between a car and a double decker school bus in Cornwall.

The crash happened on the B3296 Meaver Road at Mullion at 8.40am on Monday morning.

The 31-year-old woman car driver died earlier this week in hospital from her injuries and today police said the baby boy - believed to be her son - had also died.

Both were in the car which collided with the bus taking 28 children to the local Mullion school.

One child on the bus was seriously injured, the rest sustained only minor wounds.

The dead pair were travelling in a silver Vauxhall Astra and lived locally.

Police said they were 'deeply saddened' by the deaths and are appealing for dashcam footage to help with their inquiries.

TRIBUTE

A loved one of the woman who died wrote in a tribute on Facebook: "It's such a shock to us as a family, I would really appreciate it if you could all respect our privacy with dealing with the loss."

Sergeant Phil Brown from Devon & Cornwall Police Serious Collisions Investigation Team said: “We are deeply saddened that a woman and child have now died following the collision in Mullion earlier this week.

“It is impossible to put into words the grief those close to them are feeling right now.

The force added the family wish for their privacy to be respected at this difficult time as they come to terms with their loss.
