Brit cops admit sending officers to investigate UFOs after reports of flying saucers, strange lights and alien abduction

Police didn't find any evidence of the existence of UFOs, but said the calls could point to other crimes

COPS have admitted sending officers to investigate UFOs after calls about “alien craft”.

Lancashire police said it had happened eight times in two years after the force logged a series of reports of “aliens” from terrified onlookers.

But the uniformed PCs did not find any evidence of the existence of UFOs.

A police spokesman said: “With any call received into the control room the operator assesses each and identifies any risk/threat/harm.

“The operator provides the appropriate response, which may include deploying an officer.

“Sometimes these calls are not what they may seem so a potential UFO call could be a suspicious light or suspicious movement.

“That could mean any number of things and we would assess and deploy officers if required, or there could be a concern for the caller's welfare.”

Lancashire is no stranger to alien activity. One notable incident in 1995 prompted 250 calls claiming to have seen a suspicious object flying through the sky at high speeds.

In the last two years police have investigated a suspected alien abduction, a UFO landing in a park, multiple spaceship sightings, and a “beam of light” that the caller thought could be from an alien vehicle.

Andy Sierolawski, from Todmorden Observatory in Lancashire, said locals are very curious about the existence of UFOs.

He said: “We get asked if we have ever seen anything all the time.

“Around 40 per cent of the people who visit the centre ask us.

“Saturn and Venus as well as aircraft can very easily be mistaken for something else.”
