AN armed officer at a private airfield has been arrested for allegedly failing to declare gifts from VIP travellers.
The veteran, in his 50s, is said to have dealt with royalty, politicians, business tycoons and oil sheiks flying on private jets.
He facilitated the arrivals at Stansted’s private area.
Under police rules, officers cannot accept hospitality, gifts or gratuities that could compromise their impartiality.
It is understood an investigation was launched after the tactical adviser’s wife discovered he was having an affair.
She is said to have taken some items to a police station.

A source said: “It would appear the officer found out that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
“His wife apparently found out the officer was seeing a female tennis player and shopped him over stuff he is said to have had at his house, though he denies doing anything wrong.”
He was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office and has been released under investigation.
The officer was suspended from duties while the professional standards team investigates.
