MURDERED schoolgirl Paige Doherty’s mum revealed she is pregnant with a baby girl.

Pamela Munro, 33, said she and hubby Andy, 34, will welcome another precious daughter into their family this summer.

They hailed the pregnancy as “a positive thing to focus on” a year after the death of Paige, 15, at the hands of knife killer John Leathem.

And in a poignant tribute days after the first anniversary of the schoolgirl’s slaughter, they said she would have loved her new wee sister.

As their good news was revealed online, the couple, from Clydebank, near Glasgow, said: “It was always our intention to have a baby this year.

"We never planned it but when it happened it was a positive thing for us to focus on.

“It will never replace Paige and we wouldn’t want it to, but we have always wanted a big family.”

They added: “Paige would have loved a new wee sister.”

Pamela, already mum to children Andrew, 11, Peyton, five, and Lucas, one, is understood to be 30 weeks pregnant.

Last month she invited loved ones to a baby shower where they viewed her unborn daughter’s progress on ultrasound images.

The gathering at Baby Scan Studios in Clydebank gave the mum-to-be a chance to share her joy with her closest family and friends.

Photos uploaded to the centre’s Facebook page showed the pretty brunette beaming during the pink-themed do which featured ‘It’s a Girl’ banners and decorations.

Bosses at the private clinic, which offers specialist scans and party packages to expecting parents, wrote: “Pamela chose Baby Scan Studios to host her baby shower.

“Her family and friends joined her in seeing her little baby girl during a scan performed by Angie.

“They then enjoyed some cake and drinks to celebrate.”

Pamela replied to the post the next day: “Was amazing. loved every minute of it, the wee details really made the day. Thank u x.”

Paige was killed in a frenzied knife attack by Leathem, 32, after she popped into his Clydebank deli for a breakfast roll on her way to work on March 19 last year.

The monster stuffed her body in the boot of his car before dumping it in woodland at the side of a road a few miles from her home.

Last September the married dad of two was caged for at least 27 years after he admitted the murder.

But his jail term was reduced to 23 years on appeal earlier this year. Pamela, who launched a campaign for tougher sentences for killers after branding the justice system a “joke”, has previously told how Paige adored her younger siblings.

She said: “She was a great big sister. I remember her telling her teacher that ‘Andrew Jnr wears a size four nappy’ and her teacher saying, ‘Jow do you know that Paige?’

“Andrew Snr has said, ‘You don’t actually realise how much she did for us. How much she helped us.’

“I used to say that if anything happened to me and Andrew, my kids would be fine because she would take them.

“She was everything you could ask for in a daughter.”

Pamela also told how the caring teenager would help her with household chores or pamper her by running her a candlelit bath.

Last Sunday, on the first anniversary of the murder, Pamela paid a touching tribute to her on social media. She shared an old snap of her daughter wearing a dancing outfit and wrote: “A year ago our precious angel gained her wings.

“Fly high beautiful girl, dance with the angels and show heaven how beautiful it really can be. Remembering you with a smile.”

The family are setting up a charity in the teenager’s honour called Paige’s Promise which will teach youngsters self-defence and offer grief counselling to those who lose loved ones in tragic circumstances.
