Locals on alert after a ‘huge WILD CAT’ is photographed stalking the Scottish countryside
Postman Paul Dawson took the snap of the animal close to Milton of Leys and described its enormous size
THIS is the moment a 'huge wild cat' was photographed prowling the fields in the Scottish countryside.
Postman Paul Dawson took the long-lens image of the animal on Sunday evening in Inverness.
The 56-year-old says he was standing around 1km away and used a 300mm lens to take the pic.
And despite the distance, he could tell that the creature was much bigger than a domestic cat.
He said: “My house looks over to the A9 and I always have the camera handy because you can see deer around there a lot of the time.
“It was about 7.15pm on Sunday when I spotted this and managed to grab a few shots.
He added: “It hung around for about 10 minutes, I’m not sure if it was eating something or maybe playing with its prey the way cats do because it seemed to be jumping about quite a lot as well.”
The postie says he hasn’t seen the mysterious creature since.
And he admits that knowing the cat is out there, he’ll be cautious when he’s in the area.
He said: “I will definitely be much more aware when I’m over that way that there could be something to look out for.”
