Dad’s shocking wounds after gang of youths wielding Stanley knives pounced on him as he walked home from a funeral
Chris Taylor was ambushed by five louts he spotted riding a stolen quad bike on his housing estate
A DAD was left for dead by a gang of youths who slashed his head and body with Stanley knives in a vicious unprovoked assault.
Chris Taylor needed 43 staples to close his wounds after he was ambushed on the way home from a funeral by five louts he spotted riding a stolen quad bike.
Chris, 29, managed to stumble home to his partner Jayde Hughes, 22, who gave him first aid until an ambulance arrived.
He suffered sickening wounds that stretch the length of his torso, left arm and skull.
The self-employed groundworker, who has a ten-month-old daughter, Payton, said: "They left me for dead in a pool of blood.
"Payton could have been growing up without a dad, and Jayde without a partner. I'm the sole provider for all of us.
"The doctors said I was lucky to be alive. I've had 43 staples in to close up all the gashes. It was five on one. I didn't stand a chance."

Chris was attacked on his housing estate in the Wirral, Merseyside, at 12.30am last Friday.
He spent two nights in hospital and says he will be unable to work for a long time because of his wounds.
He said: "I was less than five minutes from home and I saw these kids come round the corner on the quad bike.
"They looked at me and shouted: 'What the f*** are you looking at?'.
"I just said nothing and kept my head down and then when I've gone round the corner they caught up with me and circled me.
"I tried to fight my way out but they slashed me through my jacket. It wasn't just one of them with a knife, there were multiple weapons.
"They looked like the sort of lockable Stanley knives carpenters have. I was terrified that I wouldn't make it home.
"They were saying they were going to kill me. I've got five staples in my skull.
"If it wasn't for Jayde stopping me from losing more blood, I might not be here. In my eyes, she saved my life."
Merseyside Police said a 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of section wounding with intent and unauthorised taking of a motor vehicle, and released on bail pending further enquiries.
