Drink-driver dressed as Batman who crashed into telegraph pole before fleeing is banned from the roads
A DRINK-driver dressed as Batman who crashed into a telegraph pole and then fled the scene has been banned from the roads.
Soldier Lewis Blondrage, 25, was eventually caught by police after running off in his superhero fancy dress.
Blondrage, based at Aliwal Barracks in Tidworth, Wilts, failed a breath test and has now been convicted after appearing before magistrates in Swindon.
A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: "A man who fled police after crashing while drink-driving has been disqualified for a year.
"Lewis Blondrage, of Aliwal Barracks, collided with a telegraph pole in Meerut Road, Tidworth, on November 19.
"Dressed as Batman, Blondrage fled the scene and he was chased by local residents into the darkness.

"Several policing teams, including the dog unit, contained the area and captured Blondrage.
"He failed a roadside breath test and was taken to custody where he provided a blood sample which was over the legal limit.
"Blondrage was found guilty of drink-driving and failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic collision.
"The bench handed him a 12-month driving disqualification and a £600 fine."
