Two teens among 11 ‘Spice zombies’ found collapsed after taking synthetic drug in just one day in Manchester
ELEVEN people including two teenagers collapsed in just one day after apparently taking Spice in Manchester city centre.
Police were called to a string of casualties over just eight hours today - all of whom are thought to have been using the dangerous synthetic cannabis.
In one incident, two youths had fallen unconscious on Tib Street, while at Piccadilly Plaza two men were found collapsed and covered in vomit.
Another man was also found "catatonic" in Piccadilly Gardens, police said.
Officers issued an urgent warning over the drug as the city is racked by a "Spice zombie" epidemic with unresponsive druggies seen slumped in the streets in broad daylight.
Earlier this month shocking video showed two homeless people turned into zombies after taking the drug in a Manchester doorway.
Two suspected Spice dealers were arrested today, making a total of 43 arrests as part of Operation Mandera in the last two weeks alone.

Inspector Phil Spurgeon of Greater Manchester Police said: “We are working hard with our partners to reduce the harm Spice is causing in the city centre.
“It is extremely worrying however, that we have had two occasions in the last few weeks where we’ve seen multiple collapses in a fairly short space of time.
"Thus underlines the unpredictability of the substances involved, and the more chaotic nature of Spice dealing since the Psychoactive Substances Act came into force.
“We are tackling the dealers head on – we’ve made a significant number of arrests in recent weeks as part of Operation Mandera, and the community are telling us that this is beginning to make a positive difference.
"This work will continue until we rid our streets of Spice dealers and the chaos they’re causing.”
A police spokesman added: “GMP dealt with 11 calls between 10.30am and 6.30pm to people collapsing, possibly due to Spice in and around Piccadilly Gardens area – four between 6pm and 7pm.”
