Man charged after ‘princess’ teenager, 18, is killed in horror BMW crash leaving family heartbroken
A MAN has been charged after a teenager was killed in a horror BMW crash in Bournemouth.
Joseph Henry Lydon Pickett, 20, has been charged with causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving.
Laionie Kennard, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene following the collision on Hurn Road on September 16 last year.
Following an investigation by Dorset Police's Roads Policing Unit, Pickett, from Lyneham in Wiltshire, has been charged.
He will appear at Poole Magistrates' Court on December 20.
Laionie was a passenger in the BMW car when it left the road on what was a Saturday night.
Emergency services raced to the crash. Three others were also injured in the smash - one seriously.
TRIBUTE
The heartbroken family of Laionie paid tribute to the teenager, who they say would "light up a room".
They wrote: “Laionie was our princess. She was the most kind, caring daughter and sister we could ever of wished for.
“Her smile would light up a room, and she was loved by so many.
"I cannot explain in words just how much she is going to be missed.
“We would like to thank everyone for their kind and generous donations at this unbelievably hard time, our girl will have the send off she deserves.
"We will love you forever the brightest star in the sky, our Laionie.”
Three 18-year-olds, two men and one woman, were initially arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death, before being released.
