Woman hit & killed by car ‘while carrying presents’ in horror crash just days before Christmas – as man, 46, arrested
A WOMAN has been killed while carrying presents in a horror car crash just days before Christmas.
The tragedy unfolded at around 7.45pm last night when a 72-year-old pedestrian was struck on Brewster Street, in Bootle, near Liverpool.
A couple who witnessed the incident said there were "presents everywhere", reports
A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless/inconsiderate driving.
He remains in police custody.
It is believed the woman had been out Christmas shopping before the horror.

Emergency services rushed her to hospital where she sadly died a short while later.
A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "An investigation is underway following a serious road traffic collision in Bootle this evening (Thursday, 12 December).
"Emergency services were called at 7.45pm following a collision between a blue Ford Focus and a 72-year-old woman pedestrian on Brewster Street, near to the Brewster Street Garages.
"The injured woman was taken to hospital, where she sadly died a short time later.

"The driver of the car stopped at the scene."
Chief Inspector Andy Foster, said: "We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. We are also appealing to any motorists who may have dashcam footage to get in touch.
"The woman's family has been informed and are being supported by officers."
