The girl's mum and two-year-old sister were also caught up in the shooting in Ladbroke Grove, West London, but were thankfully unharmed.

Jazz Reid appeared at the Old Bailey today where he denied two counts of attempted murder and causing grievous bodily harm.

The 32-year-old also pleaded not guilty to possessing a firearm - a "9mm self-loading pistol" - and ammunition with intent to endanger life, possessing a prohibited firearm and possessing ammunition without a firearms certificate between November 23 and 27.

Prosecutor Michael Goodwin KC told the court: "This matter concerns a double shooting with a father and child whilst driving in the Notting Hill area on Sunday 24th November.

"The defendant was arrested two days later."

Reid was remanded into custody to next appear at the same court on March 10.

A provisional trial set to last between four and five weeks is scheduled for September 22.

The shooting unfolded last month when shots were fired directly into the family's car.

A woman, believed to be the girl's mum, was heard shouting: "My baby, my baby’s been shot."

The youngster underwent surgery but isn't believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries.

Her dad, 34, suffered potentially life-changing injuries, police confirmed.
