Mugshot of Phillip Austin, charged with murdering his wife and two children.

A DAD who murdered his wife and two kids was beaten up in prison after lags watched a TV show detailing his crimes.

Phillip Austin, 55, was targeted last month following the repeat of an episode of Sky’s Britain’s Most Evil Killers.

The ex-forklift driver is serving life in a high- security jail for strangling and stabbing Claire, 31, and throttling Keiran, eight, and Jade, seven, at home in Northampton.

He then clubbed the family’s two poodles to death in the 2000 horror.

The documentary sparked a “confrontation” with another prisoner, a parole board panel heard.

But his bid to be moved to a cushier jail failed.

A source said: “He’s despised.

"In a jail of killers and rapists he’s considered lowest of the low.

“There have been physical confrontations after the documentary aired.”

A spokesperson for the Parole Board said: “We can confirm that a panel of the Parole Board refused the release of Phillip Austin following an oral hearing.

"The panel also refused to recommend a move to open prison.

“Parole Board decisions are solely focused on what risk a prisoner could represent to the public if released and whether that risk is manageable in the community.”

The summary concluded: “The panel considered the incident in November 2024 and determined that any consolidation work by Mr Austin should take place in a closed prison.”
