While a number of bars were closed the night of Christmas Eve, some young people have been pictured making the most of the celebrations.

It comes just days after Mad Friday, dubbed the booziest night of the year so far.

Amongst the jolly folk, a number of women braved the cold in skirts and dresses.

In particular, residents from Leeds and Newcastle could be seen hitting the streets and heading to their nearest pubs, bars, and clubs.

One partyer was seen smiling in a Santa dress, with a white trim and a black belt.

Another festive-goer posed in a red and pink number that included a sparkly headdress as others, including a dog walker, nonchalantly strolled passed.

In Leeds, two young merrymakers wore matching outfits for the holiday season.

Gleeing ear-to-ear, they paired mini skirts with knee high boots while embracing one another for a photo.

Others seemed more affected by the cold, wrapped up in festive pyjamas, hats and jumpers.

They stood amidst the celebrations, surrounded by two men dressed in inflatable suits.

One held a giant candy cane while wearing a gingerbread suit, the other man chose to be an elf for the evening.

Most were seen walking through the middle of the quieter than normal roads while others were waiting outside nightclubs and pubs.

Swimmers on the Dorset coast were captured braving the cold temperatures earlier today.

Wearing festive hats and swimsuits, the morning dippers were joined by a paddle boarder too.

Spectators watched in the comfort of warmer clothes by the beach huts.
