BBC Radio 2 DJ Sir Jimmy Young requested his corpse be given lethal jab over fears he would be buried alive
Veteran presenter had lifelong terror of vivisepulture - and concocted escape plan if doctors had wrongly certified him as deceased
VETERAN presenter Sir Jimmy Young made a bizarre last request for his corpse to be given a lethal injection - to make sure he was really dead.
Sir Jimmy’s will reveals the DJ had a fear of being buried alive if doctors had wrongly certified him as deceased.
In an apparent bid to avoid the risk of waking up in his coffin, he requested that he be given ‘a lethal injection’ after being certified dead.
He wrote in his 2008 will: “I hereby express the wish that my Trustees will use their best endeavours to ensure that after I have been certified dead and before I am buried my body shall receive a lethal injection.”
He also left £50,000 to daughter from his first marriage, Lesley Kaplan, and legacies of £15,000 and £5,000 to two other friends or relatives.
The broadcaster was known as Baroness Thatcher’s favourite DJ and interviewed the then prime minister 14 times on his show.
