Two women aged 24 and 38 died at the house with a teenage boy and a man left seriously hurt.

A 49-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. He remains in police custody.

Terrified neighbours told The Sun they were "shocked and devastated" at the alleged killings.

Blood could be seen on the door of a home near where the alleged rampaged happened.

One resident said they thought people in the house were just "messing about" - until they heard "screaming and shouting".

They said: "At around 6pm a lady has come out of the balcony – she’s screaming ‘I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe.’

"They've been stabbed in the chest and the head.

"Suddenly someone has come out and the other person has run into our neighbour’s house. He was on a rampage.

"The dog ran out – it was a little white dog but you couldn’t tell - it was covered in blood.

"Within minutes there were about 12 ambulances."

One woman saw the "poor" family pet "dripping with blood" where "it had obviously been stabbed".

She described locals as "devastated" to hear of the "horrendous" incident in such a "very close-knit family-style estate".

Cops confirmed a dog was injured in the incident and did not survive.

Forensics officers have been seen searching a home with a Christmas wreath and kids’ toys strewn outside.

One neighbour, who asked not to be named, told The Sun: "It's mortifying.

"I heard all the ambulances last night but you don't expect anything like this to happen around here.

“And on Christmas day of all days."

Another claimed emergency services treated a victim in the street before taking them to hospital.

They said: "[Paramedics] were working on him in the street. And the other [victims] were covered in a white tarp."

Eyewitnesses told how the suspect later hopped in a car before being caught by cops.

They went on: "We saw him getting in his car whilst the police were there.

"We were on our balcony telling the police ‘He’s there and he just sped off."

Neighbours also described watching a body being removed from the house on a stretcher hours later.
