During the evening her boyfriend was playing on his computer when he heard his girlfriend scream from the bedroom: "Take the money."

He turned and saw Crisanto with a gun in his hands - which he managed to grab off him and run outside.

Ashley told police that she tried to run out after her boyfriend but Crisanto pulled her back and started stabbing her telling her: "I have to make a sacrifice".

The victim then told Crisanto he could take the money from her nightstand and he walked behind her with a knife to her throat until she handed over the cash.

A passer by called 911 after hearing a commotion outside the apartment.

Crisanto fled, while Ashley collapsed on the ground outside.
