The proud climber can be seen smiling at the camera from the top of the hill while the sun is shown beaming down on Loch Katrine in the background.

But almost immediately hundreds of followers decided to focus on Angela’s appearance after climbing the 1,491 ft hill - instead of the stunning landscape views.

And dozens of male group members took to the post to mock the amateur climber - saying there must have been a make-up team at the top.

Posting the photo onto Facebook yesterday morning, Angela wrote: "Top of the world again ..Ben A'an…"

Within 24 hours, the post has already received almost a staggering 700 likes and attracted almost 100 comments - mainly about Angela’s appearance.

Paul Turner wrote: "Lovely view and the scenery isn't bad as well." Referring to a popular make-up brand, Alex Ferry said: "Think the Mac team followed her up."

One user, Jim Whitefield, added “Waw. What a babe” before another member of the group pointed out that he was married.

The influx of comments were quickly criticised by some users who accused the men of being sexist.

Sally Steele wrote: “What's with all the creepy old man comments? It's 2017 and us lassies still have to put up with this?

“Misogyny is alive and well, you'd think that Scotland would be up to date on equality but it seems not.

“Creepy comments from guys. Women can't go out a walk, running, anything without getting comments and now you can't even put a photo of yourself out hillwalking without being discriminated against.

“It all gets hidden under humour or the 'not all men', but it's not funny every day of your life.

“We've heard it all before and it's getting old now. Funny how the same pic of a man wouldn't evoke such sexist comments.”

Lisa Craig said: “Poor lassie posting a wee selfie at the top Ben Aan and all the creepers come out. Well done Angela on your climb. Forgot to say there is a girl hill walking group where you can avoid comments from the creepers lol.”

Angela responded to some of the sexist comments, posting under on: 'How original. Yawn'

Angela didn’t respond to most of the comments however did reply to one user who asked if she applied her make up on the top of the hill by responding: "How original. Yawn."

She later added: "I felt on top of the world that's what I was referring to. Getting back into and making time for something I truly love.

"This was the third time up but only day I actually got to see anything up there so I was really happy. There has always been clouds and rain or fog."
