Shocking footage shows moment ticketless New Year’s Eve revellers storm barriers to enter London’s fireworks display

HOARDS of thugs violently stormed through the barriers during the capital’s fireworks display last night, in what witnesses described as “Lawless London”.

Chaotic footage showed groups of yobs shoving their way through security on Victoria Street just an hour before the iconic fireworks display took place at Embankment.

A witness told The Sun: “It was dangerous.

"They didn’t even care that police and security were there.

"They were pushing people, being violent and jumping around

“There was no regard for safety.

Footage of the ruckus sent to The Sun shows an increasingly restless crowd gathering at the barriers.

A horde of high-vis jacketed marshals attempted to calm matters with little success.

Without warning, people began to stampede past staff and police officers to get down to the banks of the Thames.

Tickets for this year's fireworks, based on the theme of hope, could cost Londoners up to £50.

But it appears that dozens of unticketed revellers got to see the show for free after blowing through the barriers.

The display lasted for more than 10 minutes and featured continuous fireworks and a high-tech light show.

The soundtrack blaring across the city centre boasted hits from Charlie XCX, Sabrina Carpenter and Ellie Goulding.

There was also a touching nod to the D-Day 80th anniversary, backed by Dame Vera Lynn, an appearance from Paddington Bear and a celebration of the London Eye's 25th birthday.
