His arrest came just hours after the Leicester City forward took to social media to post a snap of his wife Jamila with a message of love to celebrate her birthday on Wednesday.

Gushing on Instagram, he wrote: "On this special day, may you have: All the joy, your heart can hold; All the smiles, a day can bring; And all the blessings, a life can unfold.

"May God bestow you with His bounties and blessings! Happy Birthday to my Queen."

Ten hours later, two plain-clothed women officers arrived at the £850,000 five-bedroom detached property in the city’s Countesthorpe area.

It is believed they spent another two hours taking a statement from his wife Jamila, mum to Musa’s two young children Ahmed Jnr and Halima.

Police confirmed they held Musa, 24, on suspicion of common assault.

He was eventually released by police, seen walking back to his home.

Musa arrived at Leicester last July from CSKA Moscow, with his £16m signing coming after their 5,000-1 fairytale Premier League title win.

But he has struggled for form, starting only seven league games this season before manager Claudio Ranieri was fired as the side slumped.

Musa is also out of favour with new coach Craig Shakespeare.

He scored twice in five minutes in the match against Everton last month but was not in the 18-man squad for Leicester’s 2-0 win over Sunderland on Tuesday, hours before his arrest.

One neighbour said: “Ahmed is a nice guy. He always has a friendly smile. I don’t know anything about his private life.”

Another man in the quiet road said: “You never hear noise coming from the house. I had no idea the police had been called there.”

Two £50,000 Mercedes 4x4s stood on the drive next to the women cops’ small saloon.
