Midlands hotel dubbed ‘one of the worst in the UK’ by actor whose toilet didn’t flush and bath was covered in mold
He took to TripAdvisor to post a brutal review of the hotel
A FURIOUS actor has claimed Birmingham’s Britannia Hotel is "the worst in the UK".
Jordan Cunningham stayed at the hotel while he performed in Buddy – The Buddy Holly Musical at a local theatre but claims he was left with no choice but to leave the hotel after two nights.
The 25-year-old actor claimed: "It was minging."
He took to TripAdvisor to post a brutal review of the hotel after storming out.
"Do not stay here! It’s possibly one of the worst hotels in the UK," he wrote.

The consumer magazine Which? also rated the Britannia chain as the worst in the UK in November last year, the reports.
A room in the hotel can typically cost £189.
Jordan said: “The first room we had wasn’t too bad... except the toilet didn’t flush and they couldn’t fix it.
“We then asked to move but then the other room had its own problems, so it was a double-edged sword.
“The windows were not very clean in either room on the third floor, but the second room was dirty with dust you could run your finger through on the TV and cabinets.
“There were stains underneath my bed and the mattress cover had weird yellow stains.
“We often use houses where actors can stay or occasionally I will splash out on a nice hotel.
“This time I just wanted to be somewhere close to the theatre without having to spend too much.
“I am not overly fussy and not snobby and can see that the Britannia has a lot of potential to be a very good boutique hotel.
“But the fact is that at the moment it is minging and the corridor carpets are coming up.
“It’s as if people have given up on the hotel.
“Normally I always check on TripAdvisor before booking anywhere.
“This time I didn’t and regret that because it’s had more than 1,000 reviews saying that it is terrible.
“What is really galling is that they wouldn’t give me a refund when it was wasn’t my fault that I felt I had to move out.
“We then sourced a budget hotel with a branded chain and that has been really clean with great views across the city.”
THE ACTOR'S COMPLAINTS
- The staff need a workshop or something to learn how to talk to customers. Lazy, can’t be bothered, my life sucks attitude.
- The corridors stunk of body odour.
- Our key cards didn’t work and I had to venture down THREE TIMES before any key cards were working.
- Our toilet wouldn’t flush.
- Our curtains had so much dust on them that when you drew them back dust would just go everywhere.
- We had a cracked bathroom door and the most dirty, grubby and dusty carpet.
- We had cigarette burns on our carpet floor and a weird white stain.
- Mold on the sides of the bathtub.
Addressing the actor's concerns, Conor Georgiou, from the company’s marketing office in Manchester, said: “We take all complaints seriously and use them as learning opportunities to improve our business.
“The deeply unfortunate thing is that when people have good experiences with us they tend not to post that online and sometimes one issue can blow everything out of all proportion.
“We are very disappointed that Mr Cunningham has had this kind of experience and we will look into it in Birmingham next week – it’s really important to us that our customers are looked after and have a great experience with us.”
