Police were alerted to someone using his internet IP address to access vile images of children and his house was raided.

Inglis was hauled away from work back to his house where police were removing computer equipment and he confirmed it was his and that only he had access to it.

But once officers conducted a thorough check of the computer equipment and mobile phone, they found graphic images showing humans engaging in sexual activity with a collection of creatures.

They also uncovered shocking images of child sex abuse among the 3500 he had stashed on his devices.

Perverted Inglis has now appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court and admitted one charge of possessing child pornography and another of possessing images depicting sexual activity between humans and children.

The offending took place between January 2007 and July 2016 at his home in East Kilbride, Lanarkshire.

Depute fiscal Michael Macintosh said: "Information was received that the accused or someone using his IP address may be in possession of inappropriate images of children.

"A warrant was sought, granted and executed at his home address. They found a SanDisk USB memory stick and a Maxtor hard-drive. The accused was not present but shortly thereafter he was traced to his place of work.

"They took hold of his Samsung mobile phone and told him what was going on and he was asked a serious of questions about what had been found."

Mr Macintosh added: "A memory stick was found to contain an extremely large amount of extreme pornography not involving children but animals. 3500 images were found with 2000 still accessible to the user.

"The images were a mixture of moving and still and depicted males and females engaging in sexual activity with a variety of animals including dogs, horses, dolphins, snakes and pigs.

"A search history showed the accused had been searching for terms associated with this kind of material."

Sheriff Vincent Smith deferred sentence for reports, adding: "I'm obliged to call for background reports given your lack of record but I would advise you to get your affairs in order before you appear back before me."

Inglis refused to comment and was placed on the sex offenders' register.
