Aldi ‘own brand’ Hula Hoops proved to be exactly the SAME as the real thing when shopper finds original brand packs in Snackrite multipack

Savvy shopper Graeme Clapp was left 'amazed' after finding his Snackrite multi-pack with the branded fave

OWN brand Hula Hoops at Aldi look and taste just like the original ones — because they are made by the same firm.

It has long been suspected that food giants secretly produce versions for supermarkets — but it is kept under wraps for commercial reasons.

Now The Sun can reveal that KP Snacks also make Hula Hoops for the budget German chain.

It emerged after shopper Graeme Clapp bought a multipack of Aldi’s Snackrite Hoops — but found branded packs of KP’s Hula Hoops inside.

Aldi’s sell at 99p for a ten pack of 25g bags.

KP’s normally cost around £1.60 for a seven pack of 24g bags.

Dad-of-two Mr Clapp, 35, of Cinderford, Gloucs, said “I was amazed it was stuffed full of branded original Hula Hoops.

“I immediately called out to my wife and asked jokingly, ‘have you put Hula Hoops in the Aldi Snackrite multipack?’ ‘No’ she replied. ‘They must have left the factory that way’.

“On the packaging the recipe and nutritional information on the back of the KP version is virtually identical to the Snackrite equivalent.

“I found the whole thing very amusing, I would bet they are the same product in different packets.”

A spokeswoman for KP Snacks said: “This looks like an unfortunate error at the packaging stage which we are investigating.”

She confirmed: “KP Snacks does make products for Aldi at the same site as its own Hula Hoops brand, although the products are made on different lines and to different formulations.”
