BRUTAL footage of a bouncer hitting a woman in the face after she took a drunken swing at him in the street has emerged online.

The shocking ten-second clip shows a reveller in a close-fitting dress and high heels lunging at the doorman outside a venue in Matthew Street, Liverpool.

He ducks under her flying arm — then retaliates with a sharp right hook to her face.

The woman's head kicks back from the blow before she staggers away and her legs buckle.

She manages to stay on her feet and moments later can be seen remonstrating with the bouncer along with a second woman.

The footage has been shared almost 1,800 times since it was posted on Twitter last night by a user called Kirsty, although it is not clear who filmed it and when.

Users branded the bouncer "disgusting" for hitting the woman and hit out at those who backed the burly security man for "defending himself".

John wrote: “As an ex-doorman myself this is f*****g disgusting, not enough characters to go into it as it's just shocking. Hope she's ok. Just no need.”

A user known as Tweety added: “How can anyone say he is in the right here? Even if a bloke swings for a bouncer he should show restraint and defend himself.”

And Heidi wrote: “That's shocking. He should be able to handle that situation without hitting and retaining her and called the police. Not lamp her.”

Keith O’Brien commented: “Bad form regardless of what she did.”

Trish added: “Size of him he could've held her off. Lucky she didn't fall back and smack her head or he might've been on a manslaughter charge.”

Last month we told how a man was pummelled and "almost killed" by bouncers and his girlfriend tossed into the road "like a ragdoll" on a birthday night out in Cleethorpes, Lincs.
