They vowed to cut back on 50 per cent of the sugar in its drinks after the government introduced sugar tax.

Talia Stewart wrote on Twitter: "I've literally drank Lucozade orange everyday for as long as I can remember, this change in recipe is a personal attack."

Jake added: "You've ruined Lucozade original - there is no greater crime."

Many customers complained the fizzy favourite "tastes like s***" since the recipe change.

Louise asked: "Why does orange lucozade taste like s*** now???"

While Matt added: "They've reduced the sugar in Lucozade and now it tastes S****."

Others blamed sugar tax instead of the company, with Arron Sloss branding the government move "one lot of s***".

Shaun said he was "devastated" by the move.

Another user, Kev, claimed "sugar gave it its taste"

He added: "This new low sugar lucozade is minging."

A spokesperson for Lucozade Ribena Suntory, the company that owns the brand, said they changed the recipe in November last year as part of a "far-reaching health and wellbeing plan".

They added: "Removing 50% of the sugar from our drinks was part of this plan, and this decision was motivated by consumer demand for great-tasting drinks with less sugar."
