MADELEINE McCann's face is among the most recognisable in the world.

A series of artists impressions of what she may look like have been released since the three-year-old vanished in Portugal in May, 2007.

Over the past decade forensic experts have used "age-progressing" technology to create images of Maddie, who would now be 13.

She wiped away her tears as she was shown the image on The Oprah Show.

Maddie's hair is darkened as often happens to blonde children as they get older, her chin has hardened and the lower of her face lengthened.

: "For a child especially, it’s not only superficial things that are changing, but obviously the skull is still growing and the teeth are changing — that kind of things.

"Using reference photos against parents will at least give us an indication of the right proportion of the face."

A spokesman for the McCann's said:"Kate sees Madeleine in the image, and also sees Madeleine’s siblings Sean and Amelie and herself in it."
