THIS is the shocking moment a fight broke out between two women reportedly with different views on leaving Europe when the UKIP leader Paul Nuttall toured Hartlepool this morning.
Dramatic images show the women grappling and falling to the floor as one ends up with blood pouring down her face in front of dozens of photographers.
It was suggested the scrap followed a bust up over Brexit and involved a UKIP supporter and pro EU campaigner from the North East for Europe.
But a spokesperson for UKIP told : "Neither women is involved with UKIP and we hope cooler heads prevail."
The North East for Europe group also said that the women were not associated with their "peaceful group".
There were reports that two women were later arrested by cops following the brawl, which in front of a media scrum waiting for Mr Nuttall to arrive in the County Durham town.
Video footage shows a bloodied older woman shout: "I live in Hartlepool and I have a right to say what I want to say."
She is also heard saying: "There was no need for that, no need whatsoever.
"Look at what you've done. I'm 62 years old."
The older woman then claims her rival had accused her of "being drunk".
One bystander claimed that the woman, aged 62, backed Remain and the younger woman supported leaving Europe.
She said: "She (the older woman) had apparently just returned to our country after a long visit to family abroad and the UKIP leave lady was saying you don't live here anymore what right do you have.
"It was all over immigration and the jobs they take away.
"They both definitely had different views on this."
Mr Nuttall was visiting the town to kick-start the party's campaign for the General Election on June 8, reports the .
It is being reported that he has now cancelled a planned speech following the fracas between the warring females.
He told the : "You've got some hard-left activists who are causing trouble.
"The fight had absolutely nothing to do with UKIP. None of them were UKIP members."
A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: "We can confirm two females, one aged 62 and the other aged 28, were arrested for assault at the Headland in Hartlepool whilst the area was being visited by UKIP members.
"Inquiries are on-going."
The 40-year-old, from Liverpool, will contest the seat of Boston and Skegness in Lincolnshire.
He said: "The constituency voted overwhelmingly for Leave inspired in part by the massive betrayal of our fishing industry by successive Governments, something that today's Conservative Party led by Theresa May looks set to repeat.
'I will make it my mission to stand up for the people of Boston and Skegness and ensure there is no backsliding on Brexit."
UKIP came second in the constituency at the last General Election in 2015, when candidate Phil Broughton collected 11,052 votes, just 3,024 behind Labour winner Iain Wright.
Mr Nuttall has also announced he will stand to be an MP.
The party has pledged to ban the burqa in an attempt to improve the integration of Muslims in British society.
A journalist Richard Moss at the scene in Hartlepool tweeted: "Just to add to the chaos as we wait for @paulnuttallukip a fight has broken out between two women in Hartlepool.
"Neither from UKIP."
