Woman dies after being struck by van that veered onto golf course in police chase with cops hunting on-the-run driver

A WOMAN who was hit at a golf club by a van that was being pursued by police has died.
The woman in her 60s suffered life-threatening injuries in the collision at Aston Wood Golf Club near Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, on Friday.

She was airlifted to hospital on Friday in a critical condition, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.
The woman remained in a critical condition but tragically died in hospital from her injuries on Tuesday, said cops.
Staffordshire Police said the woman's family was being supported by specialist officers and urged anyone with information to contact the force.
The occupants of the Nissan van ran off and remain at large, the force said.

West Midlands Police officers in two patrol cars began following a Nissan van in Kingstanding, Birmingham, at about 10.15am on Friday.
Dash cam footage allegedly showed the vehicle speeding through a busy roundabout near the golf course on Blake Street.
They had received reports of suspicious activity, the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) said.
They stopped following the van when it came off the road and went up an embankment on the golf course, where the van hit the woman.

The driver and two passengers ran from the scene and Staffordshire and West Midlands officers are working together to locate them.
An IOPC spokesman said: "We can confirm we are independently investigating West Midlands Police's involvement prior to a road traffic collision in Staffordshire, earlier today, following which a member of the public has sustained serious injuries.

"Officers followed a short time later, on foot, and gave first aid to the woman, who was then taken to hospital for treatment for life-changing injuries.
"As soon as we were notified by West Midlands Police of the incident, we sent investigators to the scene and police post-incident procedures to begin gathering evidence.
"Our investigation is in its initial stages."
Tom, a butcher at nearby Pat's Butchers, previously told : "We saw all the commotion.
"A black van came racing through our car park then went up Clarence Road, he managed to turn himself around and shot up Rosemary Hill Road.
"He spun around on one of the back streets and then went down to the golf course.
"Good job no one was in our car park or they would have been mowed down."
One woman waiting at Blake Street train station at around 10.30am said she heard someone shouting for "help" from the golf club.

Cops urged anyone with dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage to come forward.
They are looking for those in the area of Blake Street and Birmingham Road between Sutton Coldfield and Shenstone at around 10.25am on Friday should get in contact, Staffordshire Police said.
