Labour BANS shamed MP Simon Danczuk from standing again after he was suspended for sending sex texts to a teenager
Labour Party bigwigs voted unanimously to ban Danczuk from standing after he was suspended for sexting a teen girl in 2015
LABOUR chiefs have banned controversial MP Simon Danczuk from standing again as an MP for the party.
The move enraged the shamed MP for Rochdale, who was suspended for sending sex texts to a teenager - and may seal an end to his political career.
And in a double blow for the Danczuks his ex-wife Karen failed in her bid to become Labour MP for Bury North.
She was hoping to be selected for the vacant seat to stand in next month’s General Election and said she wanted to become an MP to help victims of sexual abuse after her brother was jailed last year for raping her as a child.
Labour’s ruling National Executive Committee unanimously decided to bar Mr Danczuk from re-standing for his Lancashire seat - which he has held since winning it from the Lib Dems in 2010.
He was suspended from the Labour party in 2015 after The Sun revealed he sent explicit messages to a 17-year-old girl who had asked him for a job in his constituency office.
A Labour spokesman said: “He will not be able to stand as a Labour candidate in any constituency at the General Election.”
Mr Danczuk is said to be considering legal action against the decision to ban him.
And there were also suggestions he could stand as Ukip’s candidate in Rochdale - or as an independent.
