FBI translator fled to Syria to MARRY an ISIS fanatic she was investigating after falling in love with him while watching his sick execution videos
Daniela Greene claimed she was visiting Germany but secretly flew to the Middle East
AN FBI agent fled to Syria to marry the gangsta rap star turned ISIS recruiter she had been investigating.
Daniela Greene, 38, secretly fled the US to marry Denis Cuspert, a German rapper who had appeared in ISIS recruitment videos threatening Barack Obama and holding a freshly-severed human head.
Brutal Cuspert - known as Deso Dogg in Germany and as Abu Talha al-Almani in Syria - quit the rap world in 2010 after a near-fatal car crash and converted to Islam.
The heavily-tattooed musician was dubbed ISIS's "celebrity cheerleader", using social media to recruit jihadists.
Greene, who had top level clearance, joined the FBI in 2011 as a contract linguist.
The intelligence officer - who was married to a US soldier when she fled - uncovered Cuspert's contact details during an FBI investigation, keeping one Skype address to herself, reports .
She claimed she was travelling to Germany, where she grew up, to visit her parents, but instead flew to Turkey before heading into Syria, where she married Cuspert in June 2014.
But weeks after, she realised her mistake and fled back to the US where she was arrested, pleaded guilty and was jailed.
She emailed a friend from Syria saying: "I was weak and didn't know how to handle anything anymore. I really made a mess of things this time.
"I am gone and I can't come back. I wouldn't even know how to make it through, if I tried to come back. I am in a very harsh environment and I don't know how long I will last here, but it doesn't matter, it's all a little too late..."
In a case that was largely kept sealed, Greene pleaded guilty to making false statements about terrorism in December 2014 and was sentenced to two years in prison.
Former state department official John Kirby told CNN it was a "stunning embarrassment" for the FBI.
He said Greene's acceptance into the inner sanctum of ISIS must have been pre-approved by its leaders.
Her lawyer Shawn Moore insisted she was "a well-meaning person that got up in something way over her head".
She was released two years later and is now working as a hostess in a hotel lounge.
Cuspert was thought to have been killed in an airstrike in 2015 but the US later said they believe he is still alive.
Last week we revealed ISIS is using a crack all-female squad of snipers in the battle for Mosul, while the jihadi army is teeming with foreign fighters.
