Germany accused of ‘interfering in UK General Election in an attempt to undermine Theresa May over Brexit
Allies of the PM think that Germany and the EU are plotting against her

ALLIES of Theresa May have accused Angela Merkel of trying to influence the outcome of the UK general election by undermining the PM over Brexit.
They think that Germany and the EU are plotting against her to try and disrupt the upcoming snap poll,
Last week the German Chancellor said there were some in the UK who had "illusions" about the Brexit process.
She quickly altered her speech when Jean Claude Juncker phoned her after a London dinner to say Mrs May was living in "another galaxy" over the talks.
At one stage, it was alleged that Mr Juncker even had to tell the PM that the EU “is not a golf club”.
Officials were accused of leaking the entire contents of last week's dinner at No 10 to the press in an attempt to undermine the PM.
Quizzed on the account – published in German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung – Mrs May dismissed it as “Brussels gossip”.
But one close ally of Mrs May told : “There is a long-standing tradition that countries do not involve themselves in the elections of other countries, and they seem to be breaking that.”

The Prime Minister has repeatedly said that a vote for her Conservative party would strengthen her hand against EU chiefs and the other leaders.
But if she were to lose seats in the upcoming poll, this would make Mrs May look weaker in comparison.
Yesterday leading Brexit negotiator for the European Parliament, Guy Verhofstadt, mocked Mrs May's election slogan.
He said: "Any Brexit deal requires a strong & stable understanding of the complex issues involved. The clock is ticking - it's time to get real."
Yesterday Theresa May warned EU chiefs they were about to discover she is a “bloody difficult woman”.
One of the EU Commission president’s aides continued the spin war against Mrs May yesterday to claim her team are “ignorant of how Brussels works”.
But the Tory leader hit back to insist the Brussels briefings proved that EU exit talks will be tough, but she is ready for the battle.
Mrs May said: “During the Conservative Party leadership campaign, I was described by one of my colleagues as a bloody difficult woman.
“And I said at the time the next person to find that out will be Jean-Claude Juncker.”
Today the EU’s chief Brexit negotiator repeated claims that our exit from the bloc will not be quick or painless in a sign that the bloc are DETERMINED to make us suffer.
Michel Barner also warned this morning that there would be “political and legal” implications if Britain refuses to cough up for huge divorce bill – and that it was “incontestable” that we would have to pay.
