PAUL Gascoigne has said he is winning his booze battle and won’t let down his fans again.

The England hero said there will be no more hiding after pulling out of his public shows last year.

The 49-year-old did his first comeback event on Thursday night.

The former Tottenham and Rangers ace said: “Sorry I missed a few shows due to my alcoholism.

“I really regret it, but now I'm back, back on form.

“It was my fault. It’s always been my fault.

“It’s quite easy for me to sit in doors, turn the light off, turn my phone off, turn the TV off and hide.

“No more hiding now. I'm so sorry.

“Every venue I will be there, I promise you. I'm back.”

Agent Terry Baker said: “Gazza returned to the stage for another sell out show.

“He was welcomed on stage by a standing ovation and the crowd chanting his name.”

The latest Audience with Paul Gascoigne night took place in Burnley, Lancs and more are lined up nationwide.

He went on Good Morning Britain last week and told how he’d had the worst year of his life.

His nephew Jay Kerrigan died and then the Three Lions legend went into rehab but he was on the mend.

We revealed last month how he then bravely foiled a burglary near his home in Poole, Dorset but ended up in hospital.
