SALFORD University was evacuated this evening following reports of a suspicious package which was later confirmed to be a false alarm.
Police had been called to the university's Peel Park campus to investigate the item which had been left under a bench.
The uni tweeted: “Buildings being evacuated on Peel Park campus; New Adelphi, Lady Hale and Clifford Whitworth library. Please follow instructions from staff.”
They confirmed police were "in attendance" and added: "We will keep our students informed when we have more information."
In a statement they said a "sniffer dog was en route".
