A statement said: "We are heartbroken by the atrocity committed against the innocent victims.

"We have always looked forward to these shows and our local fans, but in light of recent events a cancelled rock show seems of such little consequence.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of those affected and all the people of Manchester at this difficult time. We are with you and you are in our prayers."

The venue is closed until further notice. Ticket holders will be refunded.

A WWE wrestling event that was scheduled there for June 6 has also been cancelled.

However a host of Superstar wrestlers will be "visiting with those affected by the tragedy and WWE is making a donation to the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund."

Meanwhile Ariana Grande has vowed to return to Manchester and says she is determined not to "let hate win."

Speaking for the first time since the attack she said: "My heart, prayers and deepest condolences are with the victims of the Manchester Attack and their loved ones.

"There is nothing I or anyone can do to take away the pain you are feeling or to make this better.

"However, I extend my hand and heart and everything I possibly can give to you and yours, should you want or need my help in any way."

The star, 23, added: "Our response to this violence must be to come closer together, to help each other, to love more, to sing louder and to live more kindly and generously than we did before.

"I’ll be returning to the incredibly brave city of Manchester to spend time with my fans and to have a benefit concert in honour of and to raise money for the victims and their families."
