A KAYAKER had a miracle escape when a great white shark attacked his tiny boat.
The unnamed man’s single-seater kayak was turned upside down by the giant predator off the coast of Monterey Bay, California.
Heart-stopping footage of the close encounter, filmed in March, has just been released by Gene Mace who watched the drama unfold from the shoreline.
He and his wife watched as the giant shark slowly edged towards the kayaker – now treading water – with the pink boat still in its mouth.
In a moment of panic he waves his arms frantically in the air to attract attention from the shore.
The shark then moves to within a few yards of the terrified man before disappearing beneath the water.
Luckily a Coast Guard boat raced to help the stranded paddler out of the water.
By this point, he was so tired from his terrifying minutes in the water that he could not summon the energy to pull himself aboard the boat.
