Germany warns ‘murderous’ terrorists could strike anywhere in Europe after Manchester bombing
But the German minister urged people not to alter their lifestyles and sacrifice their "free life"
A TOP German official has made the chilling warning that there is "no absolute safety" in Europe in the wake of the Manchester suicide bombing.
Federal Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere, 63, warned that terrorists could strike anywhere.
He said: "There is no absolute safety."
Germany suffered an Islamist terror attack in December when a terrorist hijacked a lorry and ploughed through crowds at a Berlin Christmas market, killing 12 and leaving 56 injured.
Now de Maiziere says that even though security procedures are "constantly adapted", they will never stop every attack.
And he urged people not to alter their lifestyles and sacrifice their "free life" because of the threat.
He said: "We must not change our habits and give up on our free life."
The minister added: "We stand together and we are not going to be afraid."
He said that the Manchester outrage shows that "murderous criminals" will stop at nothing and have to be tackled with "utmost severity."
Berlin police are reviewing security for three public events following the UK suicide bombing.
The minister - who will attend all three - said the Church Congress, the DFB-Pokal football cup final, and a gymnastics tournament will be subject to stringent crowd checks as people enter and leave the stadiums.
His comments came as a man was arrested after bomb disposal experts were called out to a suspicious car found with “cables” and a fuel canister near a day-care centre in Berlin.
Police shut a main road after cables and a petrol can were spotted laying on the back seat of a BMW estate.
