But in the chaos, and from the explosion still ringing in her ears, the young girl was unable to hear her parents and started panicking.

It was then that Jennifer Lee, who had also attended the Ariana Grande concert, came to her aid calming the teen down and telling her terrified mum on the phone that an ambulance was on its way.

Ella told Good Morning Britain: "At the time, you've got lots of panic and it was really stressful to deal with. She basically calmed me and my mum down."

Ella added: "I couldn't hear my mum on the phone because my ears were ringing.

"She (Jennifer) just calmed us down."

She and mum Louise McGovern labelled Jennifer a hero, with the thankful mother saying: "We very much so (think she's a hero), even though she's never thought that."

Jennifer, who was found by the family after a social media appeal, said she had tried to remain calm in the aftermath of the attack, which killed 22 people and saw more than 50 injured.

She said: "I was with my boyfriend who was really calm, and he relaxed me and was reassuring me.

"Because he was calm, it meant I was calm which meant I was able to help Ella."

She admitted she had been fearful of a second bomb, but added: "It wasn't a priority at that point, I just wanted to help Ella."

Ella is still on the road to recovery after being caught up in the blast, saying she was still in a lot of pain.

But the determined 14-year-old said: "I like to do things to keep me going and keep me positive, and keep my mind off things."

The trio shared a hug in the ITV studios, saying they were glad they had been able to find each other.
