THIS is the terrifying moment gunshots ring out near London's Borough Market as fleeing pedestrians are told to run for their lives.

Cops can be heard shouting "leave the area" before a hail of bullets is fired in the distance in footage obtained by ITV News.

SAS troops were deployed in response to what police treated as a terror incident.

Witnessess told of a van mowing down pedestrians across London Bridge before three knifemen attacked bystanders.

One eye-witness named Ben told the BBC that he saw an attacker wearing a red tracksuit "coldly" stabbing a victim three times outside London Bridge station.


London Bridge terror attack - What we know so far

·         A van ploughed through pedestrians on London Bridge just after 10pm on Saturday

·         Three men wearing fake bomb vests jumped out on the south end of the bridge at Borough Market and began knifing bystanders and pub-goers

·         Armed police arrived on the scene and within eight minutes the three terrorists were shot dead

·         At least six victims were killed and at least 20 people were injured. The injured were being treated across six London hospitals

·         Theresa May will chair a Cobra emergency response meeting later after the attack was confirmed to be a terror incident

·         Four controlled explosions were heard near The Sun’s offices in London Bridge between 1:20am and 1:50am

·         Police appealed for witnesses 

·         The Met Police opened a casualty bureau for those concerned about family and friends who might have been caught up in the attacks. There are two numbers to call: 0800 096 1233 and 020 7158 0197

He then marched towards Borough Market with another suspect as it teemed with Saturday night pub-goers before he heard gunfire.

Police said the three attackers were shot dead within eight minutes of the first emergency call.

Choppers were seen landing on London Bridge as specialist police flooded the scene.

Controlled explosions echoed through the area between 1:20am and 1:40am.

Theresa May will hold a Cobra emergency meeting later.
