THIS is the terrifying moment Richard Hammond's supercar hurtles around a corner, just seconds before the vehicle flips in a horrific crash.

The former Top Gear host had to be airlifted to hospital after the crash in Switzerland, cheating death when the £2m supercar crashed and burst into flames.

The Grand Tour presenter had been filming for the Amazon Prime show at the time of the crash.

In the latest video, the car can be seen approaching the corner before it appears to lose control, with the tyres smoking.

Just moments later, not caught in this specific video, the car is understood to have left the road and mounted a grassy verge, where Hammond was pulled from the burning vehicle.

The presenter is now being treated in hospital with serious injuries – the worst of which is a fractured knee.

Co-host Jeremy Clarkson tweeted out about the crash, writing: "It was the biggest crash I've ever seen and the most frightening but incredibly, and thankfully, Richard seems to be mostly OK."

He was driving a Rimac Concept One at the time, an electronic vehicle which can reach speeds of nearly 200mph.

A source told The Sun’s Bizarre column: “Richard is conscious but very shaken.

“He is currently being treated in hospital for a fractured knee and having the once over.

“It’s quite incredible he’s come away from this with nothing more serious quite frankly.”

An Amazon spokeswoman added: “Richard Hammond was involved in a serious crash after completing the Hemburg Hill Climb in Switzerland in a Rimac Concept One, an electric super car built in Croatia, during filming for The Grand Tour Season 2 on Amazon Prime, but very fortunately suffered no serious injury.”

It's not the first time that Hammond has had a lucky escape, left in a coma for two weeks after crashing a jet-propelled car in 2006.

He was airlifted to hospital in Leeds and the dad-of-two later revealed he suffered depression, paranoia and memory loss due to brain damage.

Earlier this year, Richard was in Mozambique in southern Africa when he came off a motorbike he was riding.
