STUNNING footage has shown the moment Dallas in the US was engulfed by a dangerous and unpredictable snap storm which can cause devastation.
Ominous video captures the "microburst" rain bomb with its dark grey clouds dwarfing the downtown area of the city.
Microbursts have wind speeds higher than 100mph and often cause so much devastation that they are mistaken for tornadoes.
They are small, normally 2.5 miles in diameter, and it is almost impossible to predict when they will occur during the thunderstorm.
And because of this unpredictability, until a few years ago they were one of the leading causes of weather-related plane crashes.
Microbursts, which can be dry or wet, occur when a thunderstorm can no hold its precipitation as the upward draft gets weaker, leaving the rain and hail to crash to the ground and spread out.
The storm which gripped Dallas last Sunday was a wet Microburst evidenced by the rain.
Rampaging tornadoes ripped through the east of Dallas in Texas and killed seven people in April.
About 50 people were treated for related injuries, as pictures and video revealed the havoc and destruction wrought by the twisters.
