British boy, 4, drowns after falling into swimming pool while visiting relatives with his mum in India
Manbir Singh Banwayat was found floating in the swimming pool in Mumbai after going missing
A FOUR-year-old British boy died after falling into a swimming pool while staying with relatives in India.
Manbir Singh Banwayat, who was soon due to return to his parents in London, had been staying with his grandparents in Mumbai.
He had been staying at their home - in a development called Gokul Dham Society - for a year but went to play in a nearby complex called Hyde Park Society.
His mum was in the country visiting him and had taken him to meet his aunt.
She was due to take him home to London after her stay, where he was to start primary school.
The tragedy reportedly happened last Sunday.
Recalling the incident, the boy’s 58-year-old grandfather Sukhdev Singh said: "When his mother went out to look for him, she couldn't find him.
"Soon, many other residents started searching for him.
"Some time later, a few of the building's staffers said he had been found floating in the swimming pool. He was then taken to a hospital."

A poster near the swimming pool reportedly informed people that it was closed, but it was not fenced off.
No lifeguard was present, because the pool was supposed to be out of use.
Hyde Park Society complex manager Gautam Adhikari said: "The pool was closed, and hence there was no guard. Security for the society and a guard near the pool are totally different issues."
An unnamed relative of the boy said: "We are not aware of any guard stationed at the spot.
"But after this incident, I think, a proper fence should be installed around the pool, so that children are not able to enter it."
Manbir’s dad Satnam flew to Mumbai from London to attend his son’s last rites.
The death has been recorded as "accidental".
