Chantelle Connelly guilty of punching a woman after boozed-up Geordie Shore star flew into a jealous rage over an ex-boyfriend

GEORDIE Shore star Chantelle Connelly has been found guilty of smacking a woman on a boozy night out in a jealous rage over her ex.

The 27-year-old repeatedly asked victim Lauren Alexander if she had "gone with" her ex Tommy Sayers during the attack in Newcastle.

Connelly had then grabbed the victim's phone and looked through it for Tommy's name before jumping in front of her and punching her in the face.

The violent MTV star also sent Lauren flying into a wall during the boozy spat on October 28 last year.

She needed three stitches to her mouth and also suffered two fractures in her wrist during the attack.

Connelly had denied GBH without intent but she was today found guilty following a trial at Newcastle Magistrates' Court.

The court heard how the reality star had been introduced to Lauren by a mutual friend in the VIP area of Bijoux before they moved on to another bar.

Connelly then flipped into a jealous rage over her ex and demanded to know "Have you been with Tommy?" - despite the victim not speaking to him since she was 18.

As Lauren walked off to get a taxi, the celeb then hit Lauren in the face - knocking her backwards a couple of metres and causing her to fall.

In a victim impact statement read out to the court, Lauren said that before the assault she had been a "sociable person" but is now "anxious" and "finds it hard to sleep".

She added: "I find it difficult to use my wrist. I am receiving physiotherapy."

Connelly said she was in Bijoux bar, having earlier been out in her local, the Heaton Hotel, but denied she had assaulted the victim.

Her lawyer John Wesencraft  tried claiming it was a case of mistaken identity, adding: "The issue is, was the person to whom Lauren Alexander was introduced actually Chantelle Connelly?

"Andy Warhol said: 'Everyone is looking for their 15 minutes of fame'.

"In the days of reality television there is a phenomenon where you have people who we describe as wannabes.

"(Lauren Alexander) believed she was talking to Chantelle Connelly because she had seen her on television."

But chairman of the bench Edward Wardrobe said they accepted the account of the victim.

Connelly will be sentenced on July 5.
